The Fog Overtakes

Ruddy Sunrise

Desert Bloom

Desert Gold wildflowers stretch on as far as the eye can see in the 2016 "superbloom" in Death Valley National Park. The rocky foreground and crisp mountains in the distance really emphasize how barren this terrain normally would appear except for a brief couple weeks that only can happen when there is above average rainfall in the winter.

These hills appear to come out of nowhere in Death Valley along the Beatty Cutoff road. Desert Gold wildflowers are visible in the lower regions where rain will settle, but everything off the valley floor is totally barren.

The mountain is surrounded by Desert Gold wildflowers which grab the slight rain that runs off the hills, growing in the small strip of terrain between the mountain and the salt flats.
